Strengthening skills, confidence and progression

Today we delivered our whole college Work Related Learning Day, designed to provide every learner with structured, high impact careers education aligned to South Yorkshire’s skills priorities and our mission to raise positive destinations above 95%.

Across the day, students engaged in targeted sessions including communication mastery, virtual work experience, recruitment assessments, skills benchmarking, and 1‑1 CV support, ensuring equitable, digitally enabled access to high quality progression activities.

We extend our sincere thanks to the external partners whose funding, expertise and collaboration made this programme possible:

· HeppSY – funding the Talk the Talk oracy and communication mastery programme for targeted Y13 learners

· University of Sheffield – funding certificated Springpod virtual work experience and recruitment assessments for Level 2, Y12 and Y13 students

· Skills Builder – providing a Skills Accelerator place to support structured skills development and CV evidence building

· Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) – offering expert 1‑to‑1 CV feedback through their on‑site clinic

· Springpod & Amberjack – delivering online career insights, virtual work experience and employer‑designed reasoning assessments

This collaborative approach ensures every learner receives consistent, high quality support aligned to Gatsby Benchmarks and Ofsted’s focus on employability, skills, and progression.
