Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club Supports Future Nurse with Generous Bursary 

The Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club has once again demonstrated its commitment to support local students by awarding its Bursary for Nursing. This annual initiative aims to help two local students to pursue their dreams of becoming nurses. 

This year the bursary was awarded to TRC student Lydia Frere, who achieved high grades in her A-levels, including Medical Science. She is set to start her Adult Nursing studies at the University of Sheffield, with a placement at Rotherham Hospital. The bursary will assist Lydia in purchasing essential equipment and books for her course. 

For the past four years, the Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club has been offering the Bursary for Nursing, made possible by a generous donation from the family of Past President Doctor Gurnam Basran. The bursary aims to foster the next generation of nurses and make a positive impact on the Rotherham community. 

This year’s President of Rotherham Rotary, Martin Davis, said “The efforts of the Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club highlight the importance of supporting education and healthcare. By investing in students like Lydia, the club is not just helping individuals; it’s building a healthier future for all in Rotherham.
